Above you can see the three main parts of a complete Tankbag powering install.

Tankbag Kit Basic

Here is the basic component that you will need to start with to power your tankbag. This unit is installed into the tankbag (or hardbag) as shown here. PTB-001 $23.70 Quantity:

Powermate Power Port

Powerlet presents a simple solution to adapt to any type of hard or soft sided bag. This cable port is designed to install into your bag and permit the pass through of cables and limit the amount of weather that passes through. Inside the Tankbag

Below are various adaptors which can plug into the Tankbag Kit's inside SAE plug. You can join more than one of these adaptors together. For example you could plug two PAC-030s into one SAE to Dual SAE splitter to get four Cigar Sockets.

Another popular option is to plug heated clothing into an SAE plug inside the Tankbag. This way you can power your heated clothing out the back of your tankbag, plus power accessory units inside the tankbag.

Outside the Tankbag

Battery to SAE Adaptors

This is a popular way to power the Tankbag Kit. This unit comes complete with a fuseholder and a 15A fuse. The SAE plug has a tethered cap to keep out dirt and moisture when not in use. You can keep the unit attached to your bike's battery and stow the unit under your seat when not in use. Run the leads up under your gas tank to attach at the front of a tankbag, or bring it up at the rear of the gas tank for a rear attachment. Powerlet/BMW type Plug to SAE Adaptors

This is a another popular way to power your tankbag kit. Power is taken from a socket. This way, the adaptor can be unplugged and totally removed from your bike when not in use. See here for Socket Options. This adaptor is available from 6" to 36" long (15-92 cm). I do not use the Super Duper or the Right Angle Plug for this adaptor. I feel that the deluxe plug is the best type for this adaptor. The Right Angle Plug is for smaller wires, while the Super Duper Plug is best for dual leads. Made with heavy duty 16 AWG wire, this unit can power your heated clothing too. Available with or without a tethered SAE cap. Order the type and length you require below:

This cap is handy for keeping water and crud out of an SAE adaptor laying under your seat or strapped to your handlebars. NOTE: If you have a plug you can remove on the other end of your SAE adaptor, you can mount this cap. Lanyard rings won't fit over an SAE plug. SAE CAP  $1.95

This cap is perfect to keep dirt and moisture out of your inline cigar sockets, when not in use.

These clips can be used to hold an inline socket in place. They can be screwed to a panel, strapped to your bars, or sewn into your tankbag.

Quick and Easy Tankbag Electrification

The above photo shows one possible combination using Powerlet components. These combinations offer you the versatility of adding different adaptors, powering a heated vest, or even charging your bike. Since the SAE plug is capped, you can leave the cable attached to the battery and stow it or the entire unit under your seat and just bring it out when you need it. Or run the battery cable up under your gas tank and cable tie it up front near where you'll need it.

The clip for the cigar socket will securely hold the socket when in use or when stowed. A cap is also available further above on this page for the cigar socket.

The SAE plug can be brought into any tankbag and the zipper closed around its leads for temporary and easy electrification.

Using different adaptor lengths increases the versatility. Shown above is a Kit with a total of 28" (71cm). Change to the PAC-024-18 and increase the total to 42" (107cm). Or if you need more length on the battery lead, change to the PKT-001-48 for combined lengths of 42" (107cm) or 66" (168cm).
