Don't let this happen to you!

Factory H4 sockets are often open at the back like on the left. Please tape over it well, and tie it up carefully where it won't get moved or bumped by the steering parts of the bike. If one of the hot terminals touches your frame or fairing frame, you can have a real problem!

When doing any electrical work, always insulate and protect all live wires well!

Here is a bike's H4 socket with the Kit's H4 male coupler plugged into it.

And here the taped over unit has been secured in a safe position.

Here the unit of socket and plug has been taped over and tie-wrapped.

H4 KIT OPTION: An alternative to the above is to permanently attach the H4 Relay Kit to your bike by using Posi-Locks instead of the H4 Male Coupler. If you would like to install a Kit this way, see the H4 Kit installation page for how to use the Posi-Locks included with each Kit, instead of the H4 Male Coupler.

The Male H4 Coupler does allow an easier installation, and allows the Kit to be easily removed from the bike. The Posi-Locks will allow a very easy install while removing the old H4 socket and the H4 coupler from the bike for a cleaner and safer installation.

You can read all the pros and cons of each option on the main H4 Kit page.
