motorcycle h4 headlight relay kits

Finally! An easy way to get a lot more light from your headlight. Plus, you can run a higher wattage headlight bulb without fears of overloading your electrical system or destroying your expensive lighting switches. Adding relays will make any bulb put out it's full intensity. Your headlight bulb's Voltage drop after installing this kit will be a mere .1 Volt! (that's point one Volt) You will be amazed at your stock bulb's output! Even on a brand new bike you will notice an incredible difference in the headlight output.

Easy Plug-In Install: Most H4 Kits just plug into your bike's existing wiring. No cutting of your bike's wiring is needed. You plug into your headlight bulb socket and headlight bulb, connect to the bike battery and you're all set! The H4 Weatherproof Kit is an exception in that the old H4 Socket needs to be cut off and the wires attached to the Kit's trigger wires with Posi-Locks.

Perfect Set of Components: Two high quality relays are provided - one for low beam, one for high beam. Included is a weather proof inline fuse holder, two fuses, and enough cable ties to strap the wiring to your bike. The H4 plug and coupler are heavy duty types.

Relay kits work fine with modulators!

New! H4 Relay Kits with Headlight Modulator built in!

New! H4 Special 'Dual Beam' Relay Kit with both beams on in HI position.

Note About the 'Coupler Connection':

I'm now including two Posi-Locks PL1416 in each H4 Kit (except the special Dual Beam Kit). These will give you the option of either using the H4 Coupler plug or cutting it off and using the Posi-Locks to connect to the bike's headlight wiring. This connection is to trigger the relays from your bike's HI/LO switch. There are some pros and cons for each as I will note here:

Option 1 - H4 Coupler Plug:

PROS: Easier install, just plugs into your old H4 Socket. Easy to remove later if you sell the bike. Easy to reconnect the old H4 socket to the bulb if you have a problem with the Kit. Note: I have never had anyone whose bike had a problem with a Relay Kit. Install it carefully and it will be as rugged and reliable as any other part of your motorcycle.

CONS: Coupler/Socket combo makes a bulky unit you have to wrap and tie up somewhere safely. It's more difficult to fit inside a crowded headlight shell. Old headlight H4 socket must be taped up to avoid shorting exposed terminals.

Option 2 - Posi-Lock Connectors:

PROS: Removes the bulky coupler/socket unit. Avoids poor connections with an old corroded plug. Makes installing inside a headlight shell easier with less bulk. Avoids any potential shorting of old H4 socket terminals.

CONS: Requires cutting off bike's old H4 Socket. Not as easy to remove Kit later if you sell the bike.

My Recommendations: I believe that a Relay Kit should be a permanent part of your bike. I like neat and tidy installs and I don't like old plugs and possible bad connections. Installing Posi-Lock connectors instead of the H4 Coupler really cleans up the area around the back of the headlight. Posi-Locks can be used to re-attach your old H4 Socket and remove the Relay Kit if you want to return the bike to it's original configuration.

About Headlight Modulators:

Basically a headlight modulator pulses your HI beam at about 4 times a second. It goes from about 18% to 100% power each flash, according to US DOT requirements. It has been determined that this frequency is the best for getting attention from drivers, and does not shorten bulb life.

The Light Sensor turns off the flashing when it get dark. You wouldn't want your HI beam flashing after dark, and neither does the law. You can adjust the level at which the modulator turns off by the positioning of the light sensor. The Light Sensor complies with the law, but most riders realize when it's getting too dark for the modulator and turn the modulator off manually by switching to LO beam.

The main thing is that cars will notice you coming. You will get less cars pulling out in front of you because they can't help but see you. It's true, they really don't see us on a bike. People also report they get less deer problems.

There are times when you don't want the headlight flashing; like sitting in stop and go traffic, or behind a car at the lights. You don't want to annoy anyone. As modulators become more and more common on the streets, there is less annoyance from car drivers, as they realize why we use them.

A Modulator is another tool in the toolbox to help keep us alive.

Other Notes:

Custom Kits: E-mail me for a custom kit with longer or shorter wires. There is a small extra charge for this. You might want to install the relays near the battery, or under the gas tank.

Fuses: Each kit normally comes with an inline fuse holder, as shown, near the battery terminal. This is not needed if you are connecting to a fuse panel. Please specify when ordering if you don't want an inline fuse holder. Instead of the fuse holder and M6 battery ring terminal, a factory crimped terminal of your choice will come on the kit for attaching to your fuse panel. There is no difference in price.
