Installation Notes:
-
An adapted bracket kit is
needed to install the SH847 rectifier.
-
The SH847 is much more
efficient than the OEM Harley rectifier. The voltage
will be between 0.1 and 0.2v higher for any given
rpm/load.
This puts less load on the stator and improves the
overall charging system. Increasing the battery voltage
by 0.2v for either lead acid or lithium
batteries will improve battery life especially for those
who commute or use many electrical accessories.

Please note the OEM
Harley rectifier is smaller than the SH847, so if
installing with the OEM standard bash plate, about 2.5
inches need to be removed from the left side of the bash
plate in the rectifier area. For Harley OEM optional
bash plate, which covers the rectifier, there is no need
for any modifications to the bash plate. This is also
the case with most aftermarket bash plates, that cover
the rectifier ( rather than have a cutout for the
rectifier to protrude ).

Pan America with SH847 installed. The output voltage
peaks at 14.4v, but is typically 0.2v above the output
of the OEM rectifier. At idle this rectifier could keep
14.2v on a discharged battery ( battery was 11.9v when
off the bike ) whereas the OEM rectifier could only
manage 13.8v into the discharged battery, at idle.

FH0020AA or SH857 rectifier to be connected to the Pan
American stock rectifier connectors. To all this with the
stock basj plate, the cables need to be tucked behind the
adapter bracket. See image Fig 10. below.

Brake Modulator |
The B-Mod brake light modulator flashes the rear brake light for
approx 1.5s before leaving the brake light 100% on. This helps
the rider be noticed by
following traffic. In cases where someone is tailgating, the
brake can be applied very lightly and frequently, causing the
B-Mod to constantly flash the
rear brake. To have the modulator flash constantly, the brake
lever must be lightly pulled about once every 1,5s or less.
