Description
Upgrade rectifier kit for the Harley Pan America. Rated at 50A this series rectifier is both more
reliable and more efficient than the OEM Harley Pan America rectifier. Made by Shindengen this is not a cheap
copy SH847. Leads are 45cm or (17.7″). Assembled using 100% copper wire & quality terminals.
WHY UPGRADE?
Our Pan America was having problems starting. We noticed, when measuring the current to the battery at
idle, that the current was very low. Even after starting the bike. Sometimes the bike would not have enough
power to crank over the engine. Most would assume it was the battery, but the battery was only a few month
old and was a quality battery. We decided to try a Shindengen ( fitted to all Japanese and most European bike ).
At idle the battery current ( charge current ) was significantly increased. The voltage, both when measured
at the battery and viewed on the dash, increased by on average 0.2v. Interestingly, after installing our
Pan America never had any more issues starting. Even after no use for a month, it cranked into life. Clearly
the battery was not the issue.
We’ve also had feedback from Pan America customers who had a large number of electrical accessories.
They reported that the display voltage was around 13.7v when lights, grips etc, were on. After upgrading
their rectifier with our kit, the voltage never dropped below 14v.
