motorcycle h4 headlight relay kits

installation instructions here

Finally! An easy way to get a lot more light from your headlight. Plus, you can run a higher wattage headlight bulb without fears of overloading your electrical system or destroying your expensive lighting switches. Adding relays will make any bulb put out it’s full intensity. Your headlight bulb’s Voltage drop after installing this kit will be a mere .1 Volt! (that’s point one Volt) You will be amazed at your stock bulb’s output! Even on a brand new bike you will notice an incredible difference in the headlight output.

Easy Plug-In Install: Most H4 Kits just plug into your bike’s existing wiring. No cutting of your bike’s wiring is needed. You plug into your headlight bulb socket and headlight bulb, connect to the bike battery and you’re all set!

Perfect Set of Components: Two high quality relays are provided - one for low beam, one for high beam. Included is a weather proof inline fuse holder, two fuses, and enough cable ties to strap the wiring to your bike. All wiring is high temp cross linked type.

Relay kits work fine with modulators!

Note About the ‘Coupler Connection’:

Most H4 Kits have an H4 Coupler to plug into your stock bulb socket for HI and LO beam switching. As an alternative you can remove the H4 Coupler and make a more secure and tidy connection using a pair of Posi-Locks or you can solder these wires. There are some pros and cons for each as I will note here:

Option 1 - H4 Coupler Plug:

PROS: Easier install, just plugs into your old H4 Socket. Easy to remove later if you sell the bike. Easy to reconnect the old H4 socket to the bulb if you have a problem with the Kit. Note: I have never had anyone whose bike had a problem with a Relay Kit. Install it carefully and it will be as rugged and reliable as any other part of your motorcycle.

CONS: Coupler/Socket combo makes a bulky unit you have to wrap and tie up somewhere safely. It’s more difficult to fit inside a crowded headlight shell. Old headlight H4 socket must be taped up to avoid shorting exposed terminals.

Option 2 - Posi-Lock Connectors or Soldering:

PROS: Removes the bulky coupler/socket unit. Avoids poor connections with an old corroded plug. Makes installing inside a headlight shell easier with less bulk. Avoids any potential shorting of old H4 socket terminals.

CONS: Requires cutting off bike’s old H4 Socket. Not as easy to remove Kit later if you sell the bike. Requires soldering skills.

My Recommendations: I believe that a Relay Kit should be a permanent part of your bike. I like neat and tidy installs and I don’t like old plugs and possible bad connections. Installing Posi-Lock connectors instead of the H4 Coupler really cleans up the area around the back of the headlight or inside the shell. Soldering and wrapping these connections is also an option but you must have a soldering iron and some soldering experience.

LO Beam Cut Adapter for H4 Single Kits

This Adapter will allow you to turn your headlight off while starting your bike. It will also allow you to limp home fi your battery is dying or not charging.

This feature is now an option with all my H4 Headlight Kits And it’s very easy to fit to an existing Eastern Beaver Headlight Relay Kit. For H4 Dual Kits I have different beam cut options that can be built into the Kit (see further down this page).

This Adapter can be ordered integrated into one of the H4 Kits on this page, just order both together.

Or you can add it an existing Kit. Go here for a selection of switches. This Option only needs a low current switch as it works on the relay trigger circuit. (Shown below with the extra LED Jumper Option)

lo_cut_adapter_1319

Integrated into a Single Headlight Relay Kit (must buy both at same time) $9.95

Switch Connectors

LED Switch Jumper Extra (for use with a lighted Rocker Switch) $2.95

NOTE: There is now an option for different switch connection types. For most switches you’ll want .250” female spades. For the mini rocker switch choose .187” female spades. If you want to use the Barswitch choose bullets. For a switch with leads choose Posi-Locks.

Heavy Duty Dis-Connector Option

This feature is now an option with all my Kits, using the heavy duty MetriPack 280 connector on the main leads 6” (15 cm) before the relays. This allows easy disconnection for fairing removal, etc. This option can ONLY be ordered with a Relay Kit.

This Metri-Pack connector can be order separately here.

H4 Dual Headlight Relay Kit with LO Beam On/Off Switching
h4d-lobeam-switch_0311

This Kit is specially for those who want the ability to cut their headlight at startup, or for any other reason.

This Kit will switch the LO beam of BOTH headlights using a SPST switch.

See my Switches Page for a switch for this Kit.

The default switch connections are .250” female push-ons. Let me know if you want bullets, or .187” push-ons.

Switching takes place on the low current LO beam relay trigger wire, not on the headlight bulb wires, thereby giving you full power to both headlights when ON, without any Voltage drop inherent in in-line bulb lead switching.

H4 Dual Relay Kit with LO Beam ON/OFF Switching $74.95

Main Leads Connection

H4 Dual Headlight Relay Kit with One Bulb/One Beam On/Off Switching
h4d-lobeam-switch_0311

This Kit puts the switch in-line on the short bulb lead therefore resulting in a small Voltage drop to that bulb when on.

This Kit is specially for bikes with low output alternators whose riders want to conserve power for other uses.

This Kit will switch ONE beam of ONE headlight using a 10A or better SPST switch.

See my Switches Page for a switch for this Kit.

You can order this Kit for one LO or one HI beam.

The default switch connections are .250” female push-ons. Let me know if you want bullets, or .187” push-ons.
